Successes!
FixSanFrancisco.org has had a number of successes in the past few months.
We have moved discussion forward at the SF Animal Control and Welfare Commission on making San Francisco a No-Kill city. We have invited speakers from The No Kill Advocacy Center and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Read Nathan Winograd's article on this topic in the SF Examiner.
In June 2009 the SF SPCA hosted an adoption fair that included several Bay Area rescue groups after we repeatedly asked them to work more closely with rescue groups. Unfortunately the SPCA required that participating rescue groups sign an agreement that stated, among other requirements, that the groups not speak disparagingly about other groups, thus compromised their right to free speech and causing several to decide not to participate.
We co-hosted a succesful fund raiser for Give Me Shelter cat rescue, the largest cat rescue in San Francisco.
